European Foundation for Art Therapy
Arthe Foundation was established to provide educational and therapeutic support using a variety of art techniques: painting, drawing, music, drama, film, literature. Working according to scientific protocol, experiencing art, provides mental relief, facilitates self-insight and teaches healthy expression.
It allows one to take care of oneself and strengthen mental resilience before ailments turn into illness. For those experiencing illness, it allows them to recover faster and function more efficiently in their living environment.
At the Arthe Foundation, we are working to open Poland’s first Community Art Therapy Center (see) and to build a strong link between art therapy practice and the world of science on a European and global scale.
Meanwhile, we have launched our own methodology in programs with therapeutic goals addressing depression, anxiety, changes and transitions in one’s life.
Art therapy an interdisciplinary bridge for mental health
Art therapy
is a form of behavioral therapy, which can complement drug therapy through a form of outpatient therapy (support coming out of hospitals, modern, more patient-friendly, bypassing stigmas, less expensive) based on the competence of psychologists, therapists, educators, as well as specialists from the world of culture and art.
For whom
- Children, adolescents and adults
- Adolescents and adults (addictions, returning from the virtual world and learning social skills, self-aggression, eating disorders, others)
- Migrants from war zones (trauma and stress)
- With diagnosed depression, including in the family – children of parents suffering from depression
- Profile of depression (young mothers, workers in critical occupations and others)
- Individuals facing a major life change
- Individuals experiencing professional burnout
- Employees experiencing bullying
Access to specialists remains a significant challenge. We have only 90 psychiatrists per 1 million of the adult population. We also have only more than 400 specialists in child psychiatry.
How to increase access to professional psychiatric care?
Who we are
Opinions
When choosing the type and methods of treatment, not only health objectives are taken into account, but also the interests and other personal interests of the person with mental disorders and strives to achieve improvement in health in the manner least burdensome for the person.
A crisis can be a developmental engine. It can also lead to a failure to cope and perpetuate in the form of a mental disorder. Hence the importance of psychotherapy – learning to cope with thoughts, emotions or difficulties in action with the assistance of an expert.
I have the impression that in Poland this part of psychiatry, which is psychosomatics, does not exist. Meanwhile, in German-speaking countries, it is appreciated, there are whole departments of psychodynamics. (…) If this more complete approach were spread, it would stimulate our psychiatry to a more comprehensive approach and to use therapeutic methods that are widely available, proven and free.
There are fundamental differences between the use of simple art therapy techniques and the results of comprehensive art therapy programs. These settle strategic treatment goals. What’s fascinating is that art therapy can then be applied in a self-contained manner, often with a departure from the shtick and shtick of classical forms of treatment.
Poland’s first Community Art Therapy Center
- You can use the centre’s help for a fee or under the program (funded by a grant) – to get help free of charge.
- Individual, group, on-site and remote (online) sessions are available depending on your needs.
- Therapists, psychologists, educators, psychiatrists, artists, students and volunteers working together.
Art therapy can be a bridge connecting different communities for the national good – the mental health of children and adolescents.
